Course aim
To be aware of your role and responsibility when applying the Mental Capacity Act 2005, within the safeguarding adults context. This course is equivalent to ERSAB Level 2 Mental Capacity Act 2005 3 hour virtual course and either of these courses or other Mental Capacity Act training are acceptable as pre-requisites for ERSAB Level 2 Reporting Concerns and Level 3 courses.
Course details

This course is suitable for all delegates working within the voluntary and independent sector supporting 'Adults at Risk of Harm' (formerly Vulnerable Adults), in a range of settings.

This course or MCA Awareness eLearning (ASC Lead ER) or other Mental Capacity Act training are acceptable as pre-requisites for ERSAB Level 2 Reporting Concerns and Level 3 courses.

Course content:

  • Engage with delegates from a range of agencies and disciplines
  • Check out existing safeguarding knowledge and understanding
  • Mental Capacity Act 2005 delivered at Foundation Level
  • Applying the Mental Capacity Act in practice
  • Revisit current knowledge and understanding
Target audience
  1. This course is a pre-requisite to attending Level 3 Safeguarding
  2. Are new in post or refreshing knowledge
  3. May need to meet various standards/qualifications/continual professional development.
Learning outcomes
  1. Reflect on current knowledge and dilemmas in practice
  2. Greater awareness of how the Mental Capacity Act 2005 impacts on the Safeguarding Reporting process and the wishes of the individual.
