The Help for Households campaign aims to support residents in the East Riding needing financial help or struggling to manage.
Welcoming places
As part of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC)'s Help for Households campaign, community groups will be able to apply for grants to open their venues as welcoming places while East Riding libraries will be opening their doors to people to offer a warm and welcoming place.
As part of the Do it for East Yorkshire community grant, organisations and community groups, including those who have previously received funding from the scheme, can now apply for grants between £1,500 and £5,000 specifically for opening their venues on a regular basis to provide welcoming places.
Information on the Do it for East Yorkshire community grant can be found at doitforeastyorkshire.co.uk/#grant libraries will also be open for people to drop in during the colder months and will offer a wide range of activities to support health and well-being throughout the cost of living crisis.
They will offer free access to wi-fi and a range of digital services while library staff can help people get online while there will also be a range of activities such as games and jigsaws and the offer of a warm drink and support.
Promoting Help for Households
The Help for Households campaign aims to support residents in the East Riding needing financial help or struggling to manage.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is particularly keen to reach those who are just about managing, who we know are less likely to know what support we can offer, and wouldn’t usually think to contact us.
Our one-stop webpage has been created so that residents can easily see what support they could be entitled to from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, the Government as well as partners including the voluntary and community sector.
During October, to raise awareness, all residents will receive a flyer about the campaign within their annual waste and recycling mail-out.
This will show the breadth of support and information on offer for residents and to encourage them to visit the website to find out more. Posters, flyers and other marketing materials will soon be available in buildings open to the public and will also start to appear more widely across the East Riding.
If you are keen to support the campaign and would like to talk to us about this, please contact us at
