The Humber Modern Slavery Partnership are hosting a free event aimed at organisations and professionals who may encounter potential victims of modern slavery.
This one-day training event is for organisations and professionals who are not designated modern slavery first responders but may still either encounter or support potential victims of modern slavery.
Over the course of the day, they will be outlining what modern slavery looks like in practice, the systems in place to support victims and hearing from experts about child criminal exploitation, cuckooing and specialist victim support provision.
They will finish the day with an interactive tabletop exercise based on real life case studies.

Safeguarding Adults Week 16 – 19 November 2026
Once again, the Hull and East Riding Safeguarding Adults Boards are coming together to support the Anne Craft Trust during Safeguarding Adults week.
We believe that working in partnerships allows us to share our knowledge of safeguarding, learn from others, and work towards creating safer cultures.
During this year’s event, we’ll be collaborating with our partners to explore a different safeguarding theme each day around the central premise of "Every Voice. Every Choice". By prioritising choice, safeguarding can become more preventative, build trust, and empower individuals.
Our focus this year is on how co-production is central to safeguarding adults.
We’ll explore how a collaborative approach aligns closely with key principles of the Care Act 2014, such as empowerment and prevention.
A key theme is Making Safeguarding Personal, which prioritises the outcomes for the individuals. It’s all about giving people a voice, and making it their choice as to what happens, and what makes them feel safe.
Each day of the week we are looking to concentrate on a specific theme.
Monday – Listening and Person-Centred Conversations
“Safeguarding starts with listening.”
Effective safeguarding begins with understanding what matters most to the individual. By focusing on person-centred outcomes, we can ensure that conversations are shaped by people’s experiences, wishes, and priorities. This approach supports safety while also promoting dignity, independence, and improved quality of life.
Tuesday – Strengths, Choice and Control
“Good safeguarding increases choice and control.”
Supporting people to have choice and control means recognising their strengths and capabilities, not just their needs. This helps individuals to make informed decisions and manage risk in ways that work for them, balancing safety with independence while promoting confidence and resilience.
Wednesday – Co-production and Shared Decision-Making
“Making safeguarding personal means designing it together.”
Embedding co-production at every level helps us design services, systems and support that reduce risk and prevent harm before it occurs. Taking time to reflect on learning, challenge practice and listen to lived experience through shared leadership enables continuous improvement and ensures safeguarding approaches remain relevant, effective, and person-centred.
Thursday – Professional Curiosity
“Safeguarding is everyone’s business.”
Professional curiosity requires us to remain open, observant, and willing to look beyond the surface. This helps us identify risks early and respond effectively. It also encourages us to explore the adult’s views, wishes, and personal experience. By asking thoughtful questions and remaining open and inquisitive, it ensures the person’s voice is heard, creating outcomes in line with the person’s wishes and feelings.
Friday – Learning and Reflection
“Listen. Learn. Change Together”
Celebrate our approach to co-production and making safeguarding personal through listening, reflecting, and sharing good practice examples. Get Involved! As with previous weeks we are looking to you to support us by delivering a talk or a workshop or hosting an online seminar exploring one of this year’s themes. We would also welcome your involvement even if it does not align with our themes. We’re also open to discussing your ideas, whether it’s for a theme, an area of focus, a resource, or an initiative.

The Fair Work Agency have named hundreds of employers for failing to pay their staff the minimum wage, as the Government continues its drive to give working people more room to breathe and deliver inclusive growth in every postcode.
Around £4 million has been returned to over 27,000 workers who had been denied the pay they were legally owed, with penalties totalling £7 million issued to the employers responsible.
Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said:
“The best businesses know that looking after your workers isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s the smart thing to do, building the stronger, more successful businesses that drive growth in every postcode.
Most employers already understand this, and I want to work with them to ensure they have every piece of guidance and support available to help them follow the rules.
Short-changing your staff isn’t a shortcut to success and we are determined to stamp it out”.
