Level 2 - Mental Capacity Act 2005 (3 hours)

Aims and Outcomes

This course is suitable for all delegates working within the voluntary and independent sector supporting 'Adults at Risk of Harm' (formerly Vulnerable Adults), in a range of settings. 

This is a pre-requisite course for further learning provided by the Board.

Target Group:

  • This course is a pre-requisite to attending Level 3 Safeguarding

  • Are new in post or refreshing knowledge

  • May need to meet various standards/qualifications/continual professional development

Aims and Outcomes:

To be aware of your role and responsibility when applying the Mental Capacity Act 2005, within the safeguarding adults context.

Course content:

  • Engage with delegates from a range of agencies and disciplines
  • Check out  existing safeguarding knowledge and understanding
  • Mental Capacity Act 2005 delivered at Foundation Level  
  • Applying the Mental Capacity Act in practice  
  • Revisit current knowledge and understanding  

Course outcomes:

  • Reflect on current knowledge and dilemmas in practice  
  • Greater awareness of how the Mental Capacity Act 2005 impacts on the Safeguarding Reporting process and the wishes of the individual
